Su Ling has been creating since early childhood.

Videos, drawings, sketches, clothes, dolls, performances, sculptures.

sometimes as a sense of urgency, sometimes as a sense of purpose.

Her BA in fashion womenswear at Central St. Martins gave her the tools and inspired her to use the body as her main subject matter.

The body takes on different form, sometimes as a female silhouette, other times as an abstraction thereof, a figurative disintegration, sometimes as a representation of being, a flower, a decoration. fascination with the decorative, because decoration manifests the body and the object. Decoration ritualizes the object and gives it importance. Decoration is always esteeming to be beautiful, sometimes it can seem hideous. It’s also hilarious, depending on how you look at it.

The awareness of what is inside and outside of the body, the tension of opposites, polarities, reflections and senses of selves.

These motivate her to paint, write, illustrate, draw and ever search for an outlet, sometimes with, sometimes without thinking or planning.
